Freddy Krueger's lethal killing glove from the franchise A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most iconic monster accessories in Geekland, and it's taken on quasi-religious aspects in horror-fan circles.
Here are three new ways to celebrate Robert Englund's supernatural stalker in a trio of custom hybrid gloves from Mark Phillips' Nightmares Unlimited, featuring one inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator, one from Clive Barker's Hellraiser and one ginormous glove being designed to draw attention to the company's booth at trade shows and conventions.
Here's the Freddy/Re-Animator/Scarecrow glove, as described by Phillips, aka "The Blacksmith of Horror":
“When I designed the Re-Animator glove, I saw comments on it stating it looked like Scarecrow’s glove in the Batman Arkham game ... Now mind you, I’ve never played the games, nor seen pics of it. And I kept it that way when I decided to design and build this glove. I thought this would be the ultimate kick off to our new offshoot line of comic inspired weapons and characters reimagined Nightmares Unlimited style. Industrial. Dystopian. Heroes and Villains Unlimited. First up, SCARECROW!”
And here Phillips describes the Freddy/Hellraiser model, with design influences derived from the Cenobite universe:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, in celebration of the Hellraiser 30th anniversary, the Hellbound Hell-Razor glove. A long time in the making, a lot of planning went into this mash up! Complete with Lament Configuration glove stand, everything you see was made in house. The glove features a full brass armature, steel chains and hooks, and a full leather glove dyed mahogany with hand drawn woodgrain, black chain, and brass clasp and balls."
And finally the supersized 4-foot Freddy glove, which was just awarded the title of "World’s Largest Freddy Glove" by Nightmare Relics. The giant replica will be displayed at the upcoming Scarefest in Kentucky as part of a photo-op event with Robert Englund, running September 29 to October 1.
