The director of this episode, Kaare Andrews, is also an accomplished comic book artist.
This is the only episode of the season where the majority of interior scenes were shot inside constructed sets, as opposed to real locations (the caves and the avalanche bunker were both constructed).
Some of the cave scenes were lit only by a pair of handheld flashlights.
Many of the road/driving scenes in this episode and the previous episode were filmed at the historic Langley Speedway, which hosted several NASCAR events during the 1970’s.
This is only the second episode where we see the Copeland family home.
The location used for the Copeland home sits right on the border between Washington State and British Columbia. The crew was instructed not to walk across the road adjacent to the property – otherwise they could be picked up by U.S. border agents!
