Syfy Sync is an app for your tablet or phone that delivers contextual "extras" that directly relate to what you are watching. It may be a behind-the-scenes video of the scene you just watched, a trivia quiz based on what you've seen, fun facts about the program or never before seen photos. Plus, it connects with your Facebook and Twitter accounts so you can chat about the show all the while.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Syfy and Philips have partnered to create the first ever program synchronized lighting experience with the pairing of Syfy Sync and the Philips hue connected lighting system for the home.
With the partnership between Syfy Sync and Philips hue, there's also a whole other feature you can use. By using the Syfy Sync app with Philips hue lightbulbs, your lights will react to what’s happening on screen—be it to reflect the mood of the scene or directly relating to the action (thunderstorm = flashing lights) — changing colors to match the action of the show.
Syfy Sync with hue lighting is available for 12 Monkeys (airing Friday at 9/8c starting January 16), as well as the original Sharknado and Sharknado 2: The Second One.
If you don't have the Philips hue connected lighting system, the other features of Syfy Sync are till useable with Face Off (airing Tuesdays at 9/8c starting January 13).
