It's full steam ahead to outer space for Franka Potente.

The woman who took existential panic to a whole new level in the cult classic Run Lola Run (aka Lola Rennt, 1998) will be causing some trouble for the crew of the Raza in the second season of Dark Matter. Franka will be playing Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division (which is, to date, the most impressive-sounding title on the show), a cool, calculated force of nature who's got it in for the Raza gang.

Dark Matter is the latest addition to Franka's already impressive television resume, which includes roles on The Shield, Copper, The Bridge and American Horror Story: Asylum. She also recently wrapped production on BBC/FX's upcoming series, Taboo, opposite Tom Hardy.

Franka Potente will be seen this summer on the big screen in James Wan's The Conjuring 2. Her other film credits include Blow (2001), The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and Che (2008).
