Commander Delaney Truffault (played by Stargate alum Torri Higginson) of the Mikkei Combine makes yet another appearance! Not bad for a character who was originally scripted to perish back in Season 1.
The alternate Raza's slightly different look is achieved by lighting ... and by moving the console in the bridge to its original postion in the original bridge design. It was changed by the time Dark Matter started shooting.
Kal Varricks' final report to his superiors contains answers to a number of questions raised in the pilot: 1) Why were they floating dead in space? (Varrick uploaded a virus that sabotaged the engines); 2) What was the ship that attacked them? (a Galactic Authority vessel, as the Raza activated a tracking device when it dropped out of FTL); 3) Why did The Android attack them? (She is the Raza's security mechanism); 4) Who wiped the ship's data stores? (The Android, as she perceived an insurmountable threat.)
One of the production's biggest regrets in Season 1 was losing the characters of Wexler and Tash, played by Ennis Esmer and Jessica Sipos. They were killed off but this episode provided the opportunity to bring them back … and keep them around.
