The Kingdom of Bhutan is nestled in the eastern Himalaya Mountains and remains one of the most isolated nations on earth. Visitors must be invited into the country by the government and with only one flight on one plane piloted by only one trained French pilot, the harrowing approach through the snow capped mountains is enough to make even the most seasoned of travelers weary. The government takes great measures to preserve the nation's traditional culture, identity and the environment to such an extent that it has even gone to great lengths to preserve an animal never observed by science. The Sakten Wildlife Sanctuary is a 253 square mile park in eastern Bhutan, unique as the only reserve in the world created specifically to protect the habitat of the Yeti, known in Bhutan as the Migoi (strong man). Descriptions of the Migoi have been recorded for centuries and images of the creature are pictured in old Bhutanese scrolls, manuscripts and murals. He even appears on five different postage stamps in Bhutan.
