Argentineans believe that the Ucumar has inhabited the Andes mountains in the province of Salta for over 500 years. Described by witnesses as having red eyes and claws like curved daggers, this huge and hairy creature is though to walk on two unstable legs. Locals believe it to be aggressive, though its victims have been largely animal, and not human. The beast is said to live in mountain caves, venturing to the edge of villages to feed (and terrify the locals). Increased reports of animal attacks in the past few years have given a new name to the Ucumar. It is also known as “The Killer of Horses”.
