Helix: The Three Most Effed-Up Moments - Ectogenesis
We're back, with more effed-up delights, courtesy of the creators of Helix. Man, just imagine these creative-types sitting around dimly lit conference rooms, gulping energy drinks as they brainstorm the brash and bizarre. We love it.
Season 2, Episode 9: "Ectogenesis"
- Yum! Eyeballs!
These mycotics just get kookier. There's actually a community (well, for lack of a better term) of them living in the woods, having learned how to live with their disease by eating this red sap gunk that comes from something called 'the Bleeding Tree.' They've still got hair-trigger tempers, though at least they're not completely homicidal 24-7 … though they have developed a taste for human flesh, with the sweetest delight being the eyeball. Really, marriages fall apart over these delicacies. Blech.
- Side Effects
Sarah's spinal fluid will, in theory, make someone an Immortal, though Amy doesn't trust the cute CDC doc. Landry volunteers to be the guinea pig for the procedure 'cause he's so stupid in love with Amy, and, well … it doesn't go well. When we last see Landry, he's convulsing and bloating and mutating and … oh dear. You poor lovesick fool.
- Down With the Sickness
We've been wanting to use that phrase all season (well, at least not as randomly), and now we can thanks to the desperate measures taken by Dr. Kyle. It seems that the mycotics don't eat "their own," so Kyle figures that if you can't escape from 'em, join 'em … and does so by downing an entire jar of infected honey. Now Kyle is a mycotic, which means he better get to that Bleeding Tree … and stat, Tex.
