Ben Mankiewicz is the host of Hot Set. For nearly a decade, he's been presenting classic films as a host of Turner Classic Movies. Ben's family has a long, rich Hollywood history; his grandfather, Herman Mankiewicz, is an Oscar-Winning screenwriter for Citizen Kane, and worked on The Wizard of Oz, Dinner at Eight, Pride of the Yankees and The Pride of St. Louis. His great-uncle, Joseph Mankiewicz, won Oscars for writing and directing both All About Eve and A Letter to Three Wives. He also wrote and directed The Barefoot Contessa, The Quiet American, Cleopatra, Guys and Dolls and produced The Philadelphia Story. Ben's cousin Tom, a writer/director, has credits including Superman I, Superman II and three James Bond movies.
With a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, Ben began his career as a television reporter and anchor, before becoming a talk radio host and eventually a film critic.
