Born in Rhode Island, Lilly grew up in Nantucket. She attended Bard College in New York, where she studied art, physics and photography. Lilly first became interested in set design while she was building sets for magazine layouts. On her very first film, Alambrista, directed by Robert Young, Lilly did much of the set design, wardrobe, makeup, painting and special effects makeup for the film. After working on small films in New York, she moved to Los Angeles to work on mainstream feature films. Lilly has spent the past year consulting on James Gray's newest action/thriller at New Regency and previously designed the Luck pilot for Michael Mann.
