Inside Outer Space Astronauts

All in a day's work

Once I have a scene or segment done, I add sound effects (some of which I buy, some of which I create). I then output the completed segment into the program GarageBand, Apple's consumer music-making application. I then connect my MIDI keyboard and load in the video file, and I compose the background music using mostly software instruments, though sometimes I'll use a real ukulele, trumpet, trombone, recorder, or violin.

Once the music is done and I've got a cut to show Syfy, they provide feedback, closed captions are added and the final product is produced. And there you have it— a completely digital pipeline.
