The A Team

Adam and Stephanie Clinton moved back to Norman, Oklahoma very early on in the pitching process, but I wanted to keep them in their roles, so I usually travel to Oklahoma to shoot their parts. All of my camera equipment and green screen can fit inside a carry-on bag, and I have a second set of Home Depot halogen lights stored in a shed at my parents' house in Norman. I'm able to set up quickly and shoot their parts just as I do in California, in a bedroom at my parents' house.

Once all the live action footage has been shot, I then start pulling the takes that work best and placing them in projects. Usually, about half of a given new episode can use existing backgrounds, while the other new locations have to be created. I use a consumer-grade 3D modeling and rendering program called Poser to create the backgrounds and character models. Side note: There's a whole underground population of people creating 3D models that you can purchase and personalize in Poser, that range from clothing to furniture and wall textures. I build the sets in a 3D space and then I choose the camera angles to be rendered. By turning certain object off and on, I can render different "layers" of the shot to put together and enhance in Photoshop as a 2D still. By rendering them as layers I'm able to place the characters within the shot, which is then perceived as three-dimensional.
