It’s been more than a year since we had any new Sherlock, but work is finally underway on season three of the hit BBC series. Need proof? Here’s the first pic from production, plus the revealing title of the premiere.
Producer Mark Gattis has been kind enough to tweet a pic of a place card from the premiere episode, and also unveiled the title of the first new episode: “The Empty Hearse.”
The title is a play on words from the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story “The Adventure of the Empty House,” which is the classic tale that brought Sherlock back to life after his apparent death (sound familiar?). In the original story, Holmes explains his three year absence spent traveling the globe. It’ll be interesting to see how Gattis and Steven Moffat adapt the story for the modern day.

Like the first two seasons, the third season will also consist of three movie-length episodes.
How do you think Sherlock escaped his apparent death?
