It's been languishing for years, but the epic period flick Solomon Kane, based on the character created by Conan writer Robert Howard, is finally headed to the U.S.—and here's the first action-packed trailer.
The bloody, awesome film opened internationally in 2009-2010 but didn't score a U.S. distributor until now. Heck, it was even shown off at Comic-Con 2009. But don't think the delay means the film isn't any good, as the international run has it sitting at a respectable 83% on critic aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Written by Michael J. Bassett, the film stars James Purefoy, Max von Sydow and Rachel Hurd-Wood. It also stars late English actor Pete Postlethwaite, who passed away in 2011.
The film will show up via video-on-demand Aug. 24, and it opens theatrically in the U.S. on Sept. 28.
