While reading another blog, I saw a link to the 2006 Weblog Awards, and, calloo callay, they have a science category!

I complained that there was no science category in last year's awards, so I guess they realized their huge mistake (and I certainly hope they are shamed, shamed by this). I'm really glad they included it this year. There are a lot of great science blogs out there. Now we just need to have sub-categories to even out the field a little. Maybe they'll add a best biologist anti-creationist cephalopodophile category.

Anyway, nominations are open, and I see someone already nominated PZ and me (we're the first two listed, wow), which is nice... and I'll note that whoever nominated the BABlog calls himself "Bay of Fundy", a Canadian bay known for its huge variation in water level due to tides from the Moon. How appropriate!

I'm looking forward to just reading through the list of science blogs and finding more that I like. I can't find enough good blogs to peruse. And, well, to be honest, I'm also looking forward to kicking PZ's tentacles in the competition.

MMMmmmmmm. Calamari.
