The LEGO games by Traveller’s Tales are some of my favorite videogames, and not just because I get to run around a breakable environment as tiny, surly Batman or tiny, heroic Sam Gamgee. They’re also co-op games, which means I can play side-by-side with a buddy who plays tiny, cheesy Superman or tiny, arrogant Doctor Who. The most recent TT installation: an all-Marvel extravaganza, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.
We have new images of some of the 200 playable characters in the game, some of whom — such as Agent Peggy Carter and the Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel — are making their first appearance as LEGO minifigs.
In addition, several characters have been tweaked from their appearance in a previous Marvel-based game, LEGO Marvel Superheroes. For example, Jane Foster gets the power of Thor, becoming Thor Jane Foster. And here, the previously plain old playable Stan Lee gets a Hulkbuster suit, turning the character into “Stanbuster.”
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers follows the plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means we’ll be playing scenes from The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
What’s more awesome than this (mostly) MCU Phase Two game? MCU Phase Two enhanced by the powers of Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy.
LEGO Marvel's Superheroes will be released on January 26, 2016. Which character will you be taking along your Marvel-ous adventure? Let us know in the comments.
