Warner Bros. has released three new images from the upcoming Green Lantern, specifically of Hal Jordan on Oa, the home planet of the Green Lantern Corps. And while we'd like to be able to say that all three are awesome, unfortunately ... we can't.
In the first two pictures, Ryan Reynolds, who plays our hero Hal Jordan, shares the scene with Tomar-Re, a scientist-turned-Green Lantern, who will be voiced by Geoffrey Rush. Jordan looks alternately frightened and confused; Tomar looks ... Xudarian. Nothing special or revealing here.
As for the third picture, well, let's let SFX tell it like it is:
"Is it just us, though, or does the [picture] look like it was done by the same Photoshop work experience guy who's been handling X-Men: First Class's poster campaign?"
These images don't really inspire confidence in the movie. Likewise, the first trailer for Green Lantern was considered mediocre by its own marketers, and humor website Cracked did a spot-on breakdown of its lack of originality.
Here's hoping that Green Lantern is buoyed by an excellent story—and there are so many to choose from, such as the battles with Sinestro or Krona (and Hal's struggles with Star Sapphire could make a great sequel).
