Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the upcoming sequel to the 2014 Marvel hit, and it will feature the characters that we've come to know and love and groot. It looks like a groot-tastic film. So how do we groot? We have the groot pictures to prove it.
These seven photos, via USA Today, show us a little more of the movie, which will be released on May 5. Rocket Raccoon sneers convincingly, while Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) looks as rugged as ever. The most attention-getting pic (besides Groot)? Rocket and Yondu (Michael Rooker) striding a catwalk together … while several people appear to be plummeting from a great height off the side. Unsurprisingly, Yondu appears unconcerned for their health.
We also get to meet Mantis (Pom Klementieff), an empath. As Marvel readers know, the character has teamed up with Peter Quill, Groot and Rocket Raccoon before, in the mini-series Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord.
Guardians of the Galaxy is about Peter Quill, a boy who was kidnapped from Earth by a marauder named Yondu and raised by space mercenaries. As Star-Lord, he runs afoul of Yondu, Nova Corp and the villainous Kree commander, Ronan the Accuser. He is aided and abetted by a ragtag group of misfits who become his second family.
GotG2 picks up two months later. Tangentially, it's about Star-Lord's first family — the father he's never known.
It should work out fine for Star-Lord. After all, he has Groot with him.
