The Hunger Games, based on the series of books by Suzanne Collins, won't be hitting theaters until March 23, 2012, but Lionsgate has whetted our appetite with a series of character posters, distributed to various channels over the Internet, until all we can do is lick our lips in anticipation.
The posters are shadowed silhouettes of the characters, and they don't give much away. To fill you in, The Hunger Games is about our future, extremely dystopian world, Panem, where our heroine, Katniss, uses her skills as a hunter to keep herself and her family alive.
Katniss finds herself participating in the Hunger Games, where "tributes," two children from each of the 12 districts across the former North America, fight each other to the death. It sounds gruesome, but the writing is so engaging that it's easy to become immersed in the story. Collins did an excellent job of making each of them realistic, and we feel Katniss' fear, Peeta's empathy and even Effie's high-strung enthusiasm.
