The exorcism subgenre is getting pretty stale these days, but this new mid-budget horror flick from the Blumhouse factory is aiming to spice it up with a sci-fi angle. Enter Incarnate.
The new horror film, directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas), stars Aaron Eckhart as an unconventional exorcist who goes into the mind of a possessed boy (Gotham’s David Mazouz) in an effort to help. But once he gets in there, he finds a whole lot more than he bargained for. Eckhart’s character believes possession is actually a disease of the mind, and that theory is doing all right until he meets up with a real demon.
It looks like a freaky mix of sci-fi and straight-up horror, and the cast seems to be having a good time with the premise (plus we get two Batman alums mixing it up). The cast also includes Carice Van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Keir O’Donnell, Matt Nable and John Pirruccello.
Incarnate opens Dec. 2.
