Last we saw Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he woke up to find himself aboard a ship somewhere in outer space. When the show returns early next month, the mystery of how Coulson got there will be revealed while new characters will be introduced.

Marvel has released new pics and character bios about some of the new faces who will make their debut in the first arc of Season 5, which will not only take place in space but also see the return of the blue-skinned Kree.

Joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season are Jeff Ward (Channel Zero), Eve Harlow (Heroes Reborn), Coy Stewart (Devil’s Whisper), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Heroes Reborn) in their respective roles of Deke, Tess, Flint, and Grill. Coulson and team will have to discover where in the holy heck they are and how to get back to Earth while the clock is ticking on humanity. Uh-oh.

After introducing fans to the Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) version of Ghost Rider last season, Season 5 will see the return of Nick Blood as disavowed S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Lance Hunter. As for ex-wife Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki), Palicki is busy having her own adventures in outer space on Fox’s The Orville, which just picked up a Season 2 renewal; meaning the chances of her popping up on S.H.I.E.L.D. this season are rather slim. Perhaps in a small, guest-starring role?

The fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicks off on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC. Check out the new faces of Season 5 below. All character bios via Marvel.

Deke (Jeff Ward): Deke is the ultimate survivor and roguish scavenger, the guy who can get people what they need, but at a price of his asking. With his sharp mind and quick wit, he is both a real asset in a tight spot and a hard man to trust.

Tess (Eve Harlow): Tess is resourceful, striving to be self-sufficient in very desperate circumstances, but she has hung on to her hopes for a better future for herself and those closest to her. She is living proof that even in the toughest of times, good people will still fight for each other.

Flint (Coy Stewart): Flint is a young man who’s been forced to grow up fast in a tough environment, but hasn’t lost his desire to make something of himself. When he crosses paths with our S.H.I.E.L.D. team, he just may get the chance to prove that he’s capable of big things.

Grill (Pruitt Taylor Vince): Grill is a gruff taskmaster, lording over those under his command with an unforgiving temperament. He has no illusions about the world he lives in and this makes him a man not easily fooled, or crossed.
