MARS NEEDS ROYALS! At least that's what can be inferred from a 2-1/2-minute video shot by a Dutch tourist of a mysterious object flying over Westminster Abbey, site of today's royal nuptials between Prince William and Princess Kate.
While those who refuse to acknowledge clear and present extraterrestrial threats to the British monarchy might be tempted to dismiss the object as a weather balloon, or maybe one of the inflatable "Rover" guards from the TV show The Prisoner caught in a thermal, retired U.S. Air Force Major George Filer of the National UFO Center has been predicting that aliens will crash (or maybe "buzz") the royal wedding. Filer told the U.K. paper The Sun that "The craft seem to have an interest in anything important. They've been sighted recently over Libya and near the Japanese tsunami."
It's worth noting that Westminster Abbey has been the site of other strange phenomena, such as the alien incursion depicted in Nigel Kneale's The Quatermass Experiment and a dinosaur attack depicted in The Giant Behemoth.
So what do you guys think? Was this reason to scramble the RAF? Or maybe the alien defense organization SHADO, from the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson show UFO?
