There is something hidden in the end credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 after all. Spoiler warning!
When Spidey's latest adventure opens this Friday (May 2), the only post-credits scene that audiences will see is a teaser for X-Men: Days of Future Past (don't get excited -- it's just a marketing ploy, not a sign of any crossovers). But that doesn't mean there isn't a surprise waiting for fans -- you just have to figure out how to find it.
The film's distributor, Sony Pictures, sent out some helpful instructions last night: "After seeing The Amazing Spider-Man 2...be sure to Shazam the end credit sequence to unlock a look into the sinister future. Download @Shazam on iTunes or GooglePlay."
Now, to me, Shazam always meant the magic word that Billy Batson used to turn into Captain Marvel, but apparently it's also an app that lets you find out what a song is just by listening to it. So if you Shazam the song playing under the movie's end credits -- "It's On Again" by Alicia Keys -- you'll unlock the mystery.
Thankfully, Coming Soon Shazamed the song soon after the announcement went out, and presto! The images have been unveiled, and it's all too clear that we're looking at representations of the members of the Sinister Six.
The first four images are pretty obvious -- Green Goblin, Vulture, Rhino and Doctor Octopus. But the last two are a little more cryptic. The betting money right now says that the fifth image, with its vaguely lion-like features, is there to symbolize Kraven the Hunter, while the final image is meant to represent Mysterio. The Wrap reports that the final configuration of the Six has not been decided on yet, so these images could just be meant as a pretty big tease.
What do you think? Do these images represent the lineup of the Six as they may appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and their own spinoff movie? Speculate away below.
