They took their sweet time but Starz has finally announced the premiere date for Bryan Fuller’s live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. They’ve also released a very cool new poster!

When will the 10-episode first season kick off? Starz will begin airing the series on Sunday, April 30 at 9 p.m. Anyone else setting up their Google Alerts as we speak? I know I am. I was a huge fan of Pushing Daisies, so I can't wait to see what Fuller will do with his next fantasy offering.

American Gods stars The 100's Ricky Whittle as ex-convict Shadow Moon and Ian McShane (Deadwood, Game of Thrones) as the mysterious con man Mr. Wednesday, who hires Shadow as his bodyguard when he's released from prison.

The duo embark on an epic road trip across America as Shadow finds himself in the middle of a looming war between the old gods (the ones from all those ancient myths) and the new gods representing modern society's love of money, media, the Internet, technology, drugs, guns and more. You can see Shadow and Mr. Wednesday in the sweet key art below. (Gotta say, I totally dig that show logo. Also: There's a storm brewing on the horizon, and how about that white buffalo?)

Emily Browning, Kristin Chenoweth, Yetide Badaki, Dane Cook, Bruce Langley, Cloris Leachman, Pablo Schreiber, Peter Stormare, Orlando Jones, Crispin Glover, Demore Barnes, Jeremy Davies, Corbin Bernsen and Gillian Anderson also star. Are you looking forward to Bryan Fuller's American Gods?
