YouTube Red’s offerings are heavy on comedy and light on sci-fi, but all that changes with the 10-episode series Origin, which involves strangers stranded on a spaceship who are forced to work together to survive.
But one of these passengers isn’t who they seem. Uh-oh.
The series will be co-produced by UK company Left Bank Pictures—the makers of Outlander and the upcoming Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams—and Midnight Radio. Mika Watkins, who wrote for Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, is the series’ creator, writer, and executive producer.
According to Jeff Pinkner, an executive producer with Midnight Radio: "We are thrilled to be working with Mika and the brilliant people at Left Bank on this project which we hope will marry the best of British and American sensibilities and storytelling. And maybe as a bonus we will finally learn the difference between a crisp and a chip!"
We can expect Origin some time in 2018.
