Ant-Man is the animated series we always wanted in Disney XD's pop art shorts

Marvel has been experimenting with some short-form animation projects, and after those whiz-bang Rocket and Groot shorts, the studio has dropped some Ant-Man mini-sodes — and they are pop-art glorious.

The shorts were produced by French filmmakers Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach, and they bring a bright and vibrant look to the world of Ant-Man. They follow the adventures of Scott Lang and the Wasp in a few wacky situations that take full advantage of their size-changing abilities. We see Scott trying to help out Cassie at her science fair and fight off Yellowjacket along the way. Then Scott and the Wasp are attacked by aliens in the lab and have to protect the Pym particle tech. Scott also has to battle some spilled soup on his Ant-Man suit, which makes it go on a size-changing spree, with hilarious results.

The shorts are a great proof of concept, and if Marvel and Disney XD are looking to explore some different stylistic approaches, this one is a home run. Here’s hoping it’ll lead the studio to shake things up on air in regard to the animated Marvel universe, which is already adding the throwback Spider-Man series later this year.

Check out the shorts below and let us know what you think:
