Unless you've been camped out on an asteroid with no wi-fi or have zero affinity for sensational, cerebral sci-fi offerings on TV, you no doubt are aware that Sunday is the 90-minute season finale for HBO's Westworld. It's been one helluva ride these past nine episodes, with its intertwining timelines, black hats vs white hats, blazing six-guns, decommissioning nasal drills and some seriously disturbed androids running amok with voices echoing inside their next-generation cyber-circuits.
Executive producer J.J. Abrams hung out on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon yesterday and introduced a new clip for Sunday night's climactic episode, "The Bicameral Mind," showing the nefarious Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins) listening to Charlotte's (Tessa Thompson) plans for his retirement after his big new narrative announcement. Something tells me that wicked gleam in Hopkins' eyes is hiding some special secret surprise for Charlotte. This is the Academy Award-winning actor in his true element, operating at a potential Emmy-winning caliber and it's a supreme pleasure to watch him demonstrate his subtle thespian skills.
Have a look and tell us if you'll be glued to the set come Sunday night!
Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's Westworld airs Sunday, Dec. 4, on HBO at 9:00 p.m. ET.
