Anthony Mackie doesn't know exactly what he'll be doing as the Falcon in Captain America: Civil War, but he does know it's going to be awesome.
Speaking with I Am Rogue (see video below), Mackie said that after finishing Captain America: The Winter Soldier -- in which his Falcon/Sam Wilson made his screen debut -- he "asked and begged" to come back in the sequel:
"It’s always a surprise with Marvel, man. If you are not one of those like Thor or Cap, then you have no idea. The only person that had an early version of the script and read the outline was Chris Evans. I talk to him all the time because we are good friends and he would always say, 'Man, the movie is going to be good.' I'm like, am I in it? He would say, 'It's going to be a big movie.' So he would never tell me if I was in it or not. Even he keeps secrets. It's a dirty business."
Even though he's now officially in the film and has read the Mark Millar graphic novel on which it will loosely be based, Mackie said he has not read the script yet and doesn't know how much we'll see of him in the movie. But, he added, "I just know that Cap 3 has to be better than Cap 2. So I know Cap 3 is going to be mind-blowing."
Mackie also remarked that he was thrilled to find out that Civil War will introduce Black Panther to the Marvel Cinematic Universe before T'Challa stars in his own movie in 2017:
"I was very, very excited. When we were shooting Cap 2 I would always have conversations with them about Black Panther because I wanted to stress the importance of that character to the movie going populace. I couldn't be happier that they cast Chadwick (Boseman). He's a remarkable young man."
Finally, Mackie also addressed rumors that he had been asked to suit up for a cameo in The Avengers: Age of Ultron as part of a new team of Avengers:
"At this point, I have not. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope. They're doing reshoots and that's why I'm letting them know I'm available. So whatever weekend they want me there, I'll fly myself out and shoot whatever scene they want me in...I heard today in one of the interviews that someone thought I was in Ant-Man. I hope so! I hope I'm in Ant-Man. I hope I'm in Hulk 3, I hope I'm in Thor 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Me and Groot can boogie!"
Mackie's Falcon was one of the highlights of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so I'm down with seeing him in as many movies as Marvel wants him for. But at least we know that we'll see him on May 6, 2016, when he joins Chris Evans (Cap), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Frank Grillo (Crossbones) and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) in Captain America: Civil War.
