Arrow's John Barrowman is now a series regular across The Flash, Arrow and Legends

It seems The CW is keen to stay in the John Barrowman business and has locked the veteran genre actor into an all-around deal to serve as a series regular across the entire Arrow-verse — including Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

Much like the deal to keep Wentworth Miller attached to the Flash-verse (after his role in Legends of Tomorrow this past season), the network has signed Barrowman to a similar deal. The actor has played Malcolm Merlyn for the past few years on Arrow (with one crossover on Flash), and it seems his role will be expanded across The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow this fall. Exactly how that will work is anyone’s guess, but it seems Merlyn will certainly remain a major player, in whichever form that will take.

Per TV Line, the deal apparently applies only to Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash. Sadly, it seems Supergirl remains in its own separate universe. For now. Exactly how this will work is anyone’s guess, but it seems Merlyn will certainly remain a major player, in whichever form that will take. It should also be interesting to see how he fits into Flash and Legends (will he be back in charge of the League? A rogue element?).

What’s your take on Barrowman’s new deal? Are you glad he’ll be playing a wider role in the Arrow-verse?
