If you have plenty of foresight, you can now officially mark your calendar for four new Avatar movies.

Earlier this Earth Day, the film's official Facebook page told us to be on the lookout for a "very special announcement" ...

Then, a few hours later, Cameron and company dropped the big news...

With the next four Avatar installments being shot concurrently, filming is now underway in New Zealand with returning cast members Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, among many others. We can expect Avatar 2 to reach Earth on December 18, 2020, with subsequent sequels dropping through 2025. (Please excuse me while I check to see if my phone's calendar even extends that far.)

Granted, as far as Avatar sequel news goes, nothing seems to be set in stone. Cameron has already pushed back the release date to the long-awaited sequel three times. But hey, if you make the biggest box-office hit ever, you apparently live by your own clock.

All the same, it's nice to have something to look forward to in the next decade, don't you think?
