Her debut movie might be loosely described as an action-comedy, but that doesn't mean Captain Marvel is anyone you want to mess with. That's because Carol Danvers will be one of the most powerful — if not the most powerful — member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes once she arrives.
Christopher Markus, one of the writers of both Infinity War and Avengers 4, spoke to Screenrant about the awesome power of Carol Danvers. Speaking to Captain Marvel’s debut film, Markus said, “That movie does not exist yet, so we’re following up on something that is good intentions at the moment. But that’s a power scale that right now doesn’t exist in the MCU.”
Markus continues on to compare her to Captain America, a character some are worried might bite the dust during Infinity War. This could mean Danvers is the perfect replacement for Steve Rogers, as she's set to step in at a time when the MCU is poised for major changes.
“She’s, I should say, in some ways the closest to Captain America, which is a weird, now rare kind of character which is sort of a person who’s right and knows they’re right and doesn’t really want to hear it when you tell them they’re wrong,” Markus explained. “So, with all these flawed, f***ed-up people and Quill, who’s a mess, and Tony, who’s a massive ego, all contorted, it’s fun to get another person with a clear vision in there and going, ‘Shut up.’”
Danvers led one side of Marvel’s second Civil War event in the comics, which means the comparisons to Cap aren’t for nothing, especially if her ultra-powered Binary form is tapped in the ideological battle that is surely to come the supergroup’s way in the future.
