The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 won’t be released until 2018. What’s a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to do, besides watch all six Phase 3 movies between now and then? We play LEGO Marvel Avengers, the upcoming videogame from Traveller's Tales, of course.
Players will be able to unlock more than 100 characters, from MCU stars to heroes and villains from the pages of Marvel comics. TT promises an expansive open-world game, with locations that include Asgard, Sokovia, the Barton farm...and all of Manhattan (Why am I reminded of Grand Theft Auto 4 but with cartoon violence and comic mischief?).
Players can also veer off into side quests, which include timed races and saving random citizens from peril.
From the trailer, below, you can see that this game is obviously made by fans. We saw it in LEGO Batman 3, which brought Adam West to the game. And here, we see that TT included The Avengers’ infamous “schwarma” scene, made adorable by LEGO characters. Awesome.
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will drop on January 26, 2016 for the usual console suspects: Microsoft Windows; Nintendo 3DS; PlayStation 3; PlayStation 4; PlayStation Vita; Wii U; Xbox 360; and Xbox One. We’ll be the first to let you know if it’s comically mischievous or mischievously comical.
