Wanna know exactly how Earth became a winter hellscape in the new Snowpiercer movie? Check out this animated prologue detailing the global warming cure that went very very bad.
Based on the avant-garde French graphic novel LeTransperceneige, by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, director Bong Joon-ho (The Host) has detailed his film adaptation with a grim dystopian flair and some rip-roaring action sequences, as seen in the most recent trailer. Following an environmental disaster turning the planet into a giant ice cube, survivors exist on a titanic supertrain that circles the chilly Earth nonstop. Snowpiercer opens next month in South Korea, with U.S. release dates to follow. It stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Jamie Bell, Ewan Bremner, Ed Harris, Alison Pill, Octavia Spencer and Song Kang-ho. Here's the official synopsis:
Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Will you be on board when Snowpiercer pulls into your town's cinematic station?
