This is awesome: William Shatner casually chats with NASA and the ESA on Twitter

William Shatner is a curious guy, and when the former captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise wants to know how things are going in space, people respond.

Shatner, 83, is obviously having a good time with social media these days. From randomly live-tweeting television shows to interacting with former Star Trek alums, he takes full advantage of Twitter. Now he's taking advantage of his Starfleet experience to make sure the human race stays on track.

His latest bit of fun? Casually checking in with NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) to see how things are going in the heavens. They chat about who's manning the International Space Station, as well as some nifty missions in the works by the ESA. C’mon, there has to be a way to get Shatner into space for real, right?

How is @NASA doing today?

@esa @ESA_Rosetta so tell me about this comet. I don't remember a ship heading towards a comet.

@WilliamShatner Launched in 2004, @ESA_Rosetta has been on a 10-yr mission, to boldly go where no one has gone before...
