One of the standout characters of The LEGO Movie was, without a doubt, Will Arnett’s Dark Knight, scoring him his own spinoff movie. Ahead of The LEGO Batman Movie's release in less than two months, Warner Bros. has released a few new hilarious TV spots featuring everyone’s favorite (lonely) billionaire playboy philanthropist Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, Batman.
Directed by Chris McKay (Robot Chicken), from a script co-written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies), Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers (Spider-Man: Homecoming), The LEGO Batman Movie also stars Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face, Mariah Carey as Gotham City Mayor McCaskill and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.
In the upcoming movie, the Caped Crusader has to team up (oh, the horror!) with Batgirl and Robin to take on the Clown Prince of Crime, who seems genuinely butt-hurt when Batman tells him “I like to fight around.” Holy LEGO bricks, Batman! I really dig the humor I've seen in the trailers and promos released so far. So much so that the movie has landed on my must-watch list of 2017. The LEGO Batman Movie will open on Feb. 10. Take a look at the TV spots below, before digging into a gallery of cool new character posters.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
