Batman Ninja, a new anime take on Batman, is about to arrive at New York Comic Con

Batman has a long history of success in animation, whether you're talking the long run of the Superfriends series or the brilliance of things like Batman: The Animated Series. Now it appears another chapter in that legacy is about to be added.

New York Comic Con arrives later this week (stay tuned to SYFY WIRE for full coverage of that awesomeness), and ComicBook.com has been mining the panel listings for details of all of the new goodies heading our way. One of the panels, coming this Thursday, apparently will detail Batman Ninja, a new anime movie starring The Dark Knight from director Jumpei Mizusaki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai), and writer Kazuki Nakashima (Kamen Rider Fourze).

We have very few details about the project at this point, but here's the official panel description (as relayed through ComicBook):

"Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment team for an eye-popping addition to the Batman animated legacy with Batman Ninja, a spectacular, all-new anime film coming in 2018. Be among the first to witness the premiere of colorful footage from this imaginative take on Batman and many of his connected characters."

That's really all we have to go on at this point, though obviously we hope footage will emerge to tease the series later this week. Batman has had a long love affair with Japan, as exemplified by Jiro Kuwata's manga based on the character, and this seems to be the next chapter.
