Knowing an actor is doing motion capture for a CGI character is one thing. Knowing that Dan Stevens is playing the Beast in Beauty and the Beast is another.
But seeing Dan Stevens in a full motion capture suit and acting alongside Emma Watson is another thing entirely.
What to discuss first. The stilts? The suit? The dots? The dancing? Emma Watson's ability to not only keep a straight face but give a lovely performance as Dan's coming at her bowlegged and covered in a unitard?
There's no doubt the CGI in Beauty and the Beast is remarkable and the film itself is lovely. But the real beauty here is how dedicated and earnest both actors were –– not to mention how committed they were to telling one of the greatest love stories of all time.
Here's a look at what it looked like and how it worked. It's pretty amazing.
