Well, crucify us for being excited, but it seems that the planet has gotten ahead of itself in its enthusiasm for a solo Batman movie and now director/star Ben Affleck is here to correct our over-exuberance with a wet-blanket update. Recent announcements regarding the film's title, The Batman, and Affleck's choice of Deathstroke as the main villain and the casting of Joe Manganiello as the maniac mercenary, made it appear that things were rolling along nicely with the superhero flick's development and screenplay assembly.
Studios these days try to create as much positive vibes and momentum as they can in advance due to the colossal sums of cash at risk, so this seemed pretty much standard practice for Warner Bros. and their Caped Crusader actor. Doing a smooth backstroke on some of the statements previously scattered around the internet, Affleck had this to say in a recent Facebook Q&A with E! News on the still-untitled (huh?) Batman movie and its barely-started status:
"I mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time, the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said, ‘what are you calling it?’ and I had said, like, back when we were promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, we’re just going with The Batman or Batman movie’, and I said that, and everyone was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his Batman movie.’"

Well, as I sadly fold up my Walmart lawn chair and relinquish my prime camping spot outside our local IMAX theater, let's hope DC executives, Warner Bros. brass and Affleck can all get on the same page and deliver us a more crystalized report of the Batman movie's title and release date other than the October 2018 target.
Do you think this solo Batman film is destined to arrive on time or face further delays?
