Gotham star Ben McKenzie, who plays Jim Gordon, was on hand at Wizard World New Orleans when he was asked by the panel’s host if The Joker Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) would return on the Batman prequel TV series — even though the character bit the bullet earlier in the season when he was stabbed in the neck. Which sounds pretty final to me.
McKenzie said: “Not only can we but we might. I can't say definitively but yes. I'll put it this way: almost nobody that you've seen go away is dead. They are all able to come back.” Well, isn’t that just a tiny weeny bit interesting? Heck, who am I kidding. This is potentially great news! (I'm talking about Jerome possibly returning, not about everybody not really being dead on the show.)
As Comicbook.com points out, this could mean that we could possibly see the return of Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) who might or might not be swimming with the fishes, or Theo Galavan (James Frain), the very guy who killed Jerome. Dude got his comeuppance when Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor), aka the Penguin, shoved his umbrella down Galavan's throat. Good times.
Monaghan was so totally freakin’ fantastic in the role that he became an instant fan favorite, with people hoping he was indeed an early version of Batman’s greatest foe, the Clown Prince of Crime and McKenzie agrees “He was terrific wasn't he? Cameron Monaghan, the actor, just crushed it.”
Fox’s Gotham returns on Feb. 29.
