Development season is in full swing, and some early buzz is starting to break about which TV pilots might actually score a full season pick-up. Well, we have some good news for comic book fans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW’s Black Lightining series is “likely” to score a series pick-up at the network. Which isn’t much of a surprise, considering it comes from Greg Berlanti, who already has Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on the network. The CW has found a winning formula with DC comic book fare, and until a tipping point becomes obvious, the network will keep doubling down. Which, for fans of superhero shows, is awesome news. The series stars Cress Williams as a former superhero who comes out of retirement.

Along with Black Lightning, Fox’s mysterious X-Men related series is also a “clear frontrunner” to land a season order. The untitled series comes from a relatively high pedigree, led by producer Matt Nix (Burn Notice), and reportedly follows a family that goes on the run and meets up with various X-Men-related players in the underground. This project has been brewing for a while, and has been retooled a few times along the way, so it seems Fox is certainly keen to get into the X-Men world.

Networks should start announcing some of these pick-ups in the next few weeks, so we’ll keep you posted as news starts breaking.
