Black Panther presentation on Wakanda reportedly dupes professor

An enterprising Marvel fan got to wax academic about the most famous fake country at the box office during class - and his professor never had a clue. How she avoided knowing about the setting for Black Panther, the year’s biggest movie, we’re not sure, but when a student was able to put together a PowerPoint about Wakanda for class (not for a grade, but as an educational tool for his teacher), he went all out.

The student posted about his presentation on Reddit, explaining that during the International Marketing class, he “mentioned Wakanda the day before jokingly and she questioned it, so I offered to do a presentation about the country and their power struggle. She was incredibly excited to learn about a country she had never heard of so I gave this.”

The only reason the professor was in the dark seems to be trust in her students and the fact that “she's also the type of person who only watches tennis on TV,” so remained skeptical but unsure until the class told her about Black Panther after the presentation.

The presentation, which you can watch below, is an eleven-minute tongue-in-cheek explainer on the nation, its major political figures and conflicts, and its wildlife (including its national animal, the black panther):

Yes, there are economic and religious details of Wakanda - including their relationship with Bast - but there’s also a lot of Marvel plot in there from Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther. He even hints at Avengers: Infinity War. The professor was reportedly a good sport about the whole thing, perhaps because recounting the convoluted histories of any comic book property is a difficult task - even if you’re making a joke of it.
