If you thought Universal's Dark Universe would be buried after The Mummy reboot, worry not, Bill Condon is coming to the rescue.

Some speculated that the Dark Universe might take a back seat after The Mummy's less than stellar domestic haul. But Condon just dashed such speculation while speaking with Forbes about Bride of Frankenstein (among other things) -- the film originally slated to come next in the Universe.

"Bride of Frankenstein isn't a small movie. I've got the same team together that made Beauty and the Beast and we're building big sets and designing big set pieces, so it's a pretty big movie," said Condon, adding, "We start on February 1st, 2018 so it's the early days but just to be here in London, starting to see locations and to talk about sets that we're building, it's very exciting."

Condon wasn't asked about Javier Bardem playing Dr. Frankenstein's monster, but according to IMDB, the Oscar winner is still attached. However, Forbes did inquire about whether Angelina Jolie will play the Bride, as had been previously rumored. Alas, Condon declined to either confirm or deny those rumors, as "nothing is set yet."

We do know that the film will honor James Whale's 1931 classic, Frankenstein. "As you know, the Bride is a character who appears in the last five minutes and then is destroyed, so it's a way to almost continue the movie that you imagine the movie he might have made the third Frankenstein movie, but in 2018," said Condon.

The Bride of Frankenstein reboot is slated to hit theaters on Valentine's Day, 2019, because love.
