The cast for The CW’s Flash is adding some legit sci-fi cred to its rogues gallery this year. Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff is hanging up her search for Earth, to search for The Flash. To kill him (probably).
Entertainment Weekly reports Sackhoff (Kara Thrace/Starbuck on BSG) has signed on for a recurring role to play the DC Comics villain Amunet Black, a.k.a Blacksmith. She is described as “a steely and badass boss of an underground black market for supervillains. Amunet uses every means possible, including the long list of metahumans under her thumb, to ensure her illicit enterprise thrives.” Sackhoff will make her debut in Episode 5, titled “Girls Night Out.” Along with Sackhoff, the episode will also feature Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards for a bit of crossover action.
We already know Neil Sandilands’ Clifford Devoe (aka The Thinker) will be the season’s main villain, but it looks like Sackhoff’s Blacksmith will also be causing trouble for Team Flash on a semi-regular basis. Both Arrow and Flash have dabbled with recurring, mid-tier baddies over the years, and you have to think Sackhoff will certainly bring something special to the role.
She’s also far from the first BSG alum to show up in the Arrowverse. James Callis, Tahmoh Penikett and Rekha Sharma have all appeared on Arrow, while Aaron Douglas had a brief stint on The Flash.
The Flash premieres October 10 on The CW.
Do you like the casting? Glad to see Sackhoff pop back up in a new genre project?
