20th Century Fox has released the official Alien: Covenant prologue following its debut during last night's mind-blowing episode of Noah Hawley's Legion on FX. A brand-new image has also made its way online, and you can have a look at both right here!
The prologue introduces the crew of the colonization ship Covenant — including James Franco as Branson, the captain of the ship, and Katherine Waterston as his wife, Daniels — which is "on its way to a remote planet to form a new human settlement." The prologue also offers a look at Michael Fassbender in action as the ship's android, David Walter, and reveals that all of the main crew are married couples.
The scene has the crew getting together to enjoy one final meal (and some booze) before entering cryosleep … now doesn't that remind you of a certain scene in a little movie called Alien? Yup. We all know disaster is about to strike.
The prologue was conceived by Ridley Scott and marketing firm 3 AM and was helmed by Scott's son, Luke. Enjoy!
Slated for a May 19 release, Alien: Covenant also stars Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Billy Crudup. Noomi Rapace will be returning as Elizabeth Shaw, as will Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
