Captain Marvel unveils first look at big-screen Skrulls

When Marvel announced last weekend that Captain Marvel would feature the Kree-Skrull war, I have to admit I may have fangirled a little.

Well, today, we have our first look at the Skrulls. And yes, more fangirling has ensued.

Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz took to Instagram to reveal the piece of concept art he did for the Marvel superhero film that will be set in the 1990s and star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury — who will apparently have both of his eyes (although if he still does before the closing credits remains to be seen).

The shape-shifting green alien villains were created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for the pages of Fantastic Four #2 and have primarily been associated with Marvel's First Family, whose movie rights belong to Fox.

Now, how that deal came about is being kept under wraps, but the fact that the Skrulls are back with Marvel is extremely exciting, and the concept art released by Marantz is pretty close to what the aliens look like in the comics. Also: Notice that Marantz mentions the Super-Skrulls in the tags below ... Have a look:
