The search for a big-screen Captain America felt like it took forever, didn't it? Luckily, we don't have to go through that same endless torture with Cap's sidekick, because once the part of the World War II superhero went to Chris Evans, the role of Bucky Barnes was filled quickly, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sebastian Stan, who'd also tested for a shot at the title role, has been cast as Bucky Barnes. In the comics, Barnes was a teenage orphan who discovered Captain America's identity and teamed up with him to flight Nazis. The character died in Captain America's final World War II adventure but was revived in 2005 and brought back as an assassin named Winter Soldier. Marvel would not confirm which version of Barnes Stan would be playing, only that the actor had been cast.
Stan has starred in Kings and Gossip Girl and most recently appeared on the big screen in Hot Tub Time Machine.
And whether you like the casting decision or not, we'd all better get used to Stan in the role—the actor has reportedly been signed for five or six pictures.
