What's the true horror story of Case 39? Its plot about a social worker getting caught up in the troubles of a seemingly abused 10-year-old girl who (as usual for these movies) isn't what she seems to be? Or the fact that the film sat on the shelf for two years while Paramount Pictures tried to figure out what to do with it?
According to EW, the film went unreleased for almost two years due to "internal management changes." But after the movie was released internationally and did well, Paramount decided to move ahead with a domestic release.
