The star of the animated Netflix series Castlevania has told Digital Spy the cast is working on the third season of the show — even as fans await the release of Season 2.

"We're about to record a third," said Richard Armitage, who voices the character Trevor Belmont. "The second season hasn't been aired yet, but we're about to do a third."

Armitage also hinted at what fans could expect in the upcoming second season, confessing: "The son of Dracula and my character get much more collaborative. I think that's one of the most exciting things, they start to really work together."

Representatives from Netflix declined to confirm or comment on Armitage's remarks. But considering that Netflix renewed Castlevania almost immediately after debuted, it makes sense that the streaming service would be amenable to ordering more episodes for a third season.

Inspired by the popular video game series, Castlevania is a medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the Belmont clan trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe. The series is written by comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar. In addition to Armitage, the voice cast includes Graham McTavish, James Callis, Emily Swallow, Matt Frewer, Tony Amendola and Alejandra Reynoso.

Netflix ordered eight episodes of Castlevania for Season 2, which will air this summer.
