There have been a lot of amazing Spider-Man artists over the years, but for comic book collector Mike Burkey, there's really only one: John Romita Sr. And Burkey's got the art work to back it up, too, much of which is currently on display at The Art of Spider-Man exhibit being put on in New York City by the Society of Illustrators.
At this weekend's opening, we had the chance to check out the impressive exhibit, and get Burkey's inside take on what makes Romita so special, as you can see in the vid below. Actually, it was easy to find folks to sing Romita's praises, as former Marvel bullpen artists Steve Bunche and Jared Osborn also chime in. And of course we made sure to find out just what it was like to work with a master like Romita on a daily basis. As Bunche says, "You work with him, you learn with him." And then he goes on to regale us with some of those invaluable lessons.
Check it out below, and let us know if you think Romita Sr. is the greatest Spider-Man artist of them all.
