As a culture, we are still clearly not done with zombie stories. You can tell from the continued success of shows like The Walking Dead and Z Nation and the enduring popularity of George A. Romero's original Living Dead franchise. Among the most popular zombie tales of the 21st century has been World War Z, Max Brooks' chronicle of a global epidemic of the undead. The book already got a movie (with a sequel on the way), and now it's also getting a video game.
At the Game Awards on Thursday, studio Saber Interactive (also responsible for titles like Quake Champions) released an announcement trailer for the World War Z game, which will land on XBox One, Playstation 4, and PC sometime soon (likely next year). The trailer features the signature fast-moving, hive-minded zombies you remember from the film, and includes numerous scenes of swarms raging across the globe as survivors try to fight them off.
According to Nerdist, the game will feature cooperative-style play for up to four players, and you'll be able to both select from a variety of weapons and set traps to stop the zombies throughout the game's environment. That's really all we know for now, but if you're into zombies and survival horror, you may want to be on the lookout for this one.
